Going Green… SECAmb UNISON elects its first Environment Officer

The Branch is really pleased to introduce our newly elected Branch Environment Officer, Laura Walther.
Welcome aboard, Laura!

Laura, now a Paramedic Practitioner working out of Thanet, qualified as a paramedic from the University of Greenwich in 2014 and completed the Springboard development course for women in 2022. She describes environmental care as her ‘true passion’ and as such is currently undertaking the NHS Leadership Academy Course in Sustainability Leadership for Greener Health and Care.

We are really pleased that Laura stepped up to become our very first Branch Environment Officer – a role in which she will champion environment issues in our workplaces, raise awareness, influence change and ensure green issues are being addressed. We are very keen to put the strength of our membership behind her in this!

Speaking of which – over to you, Laura:

Initially I would like to engage with passionate and like-minded members, and as part of Green UNISON week, I am looking for six individuals to contribute to the ‘Small Steps’ Campaign.  All this will involve is answering a few questions about your experiences of climate change, and what practical steps you have taken in your life to help mitigate the effects and influence others on a small scale.  Hopefully you will be happy to also include a picture of yourself and/or your favourite nature spot!  This information will then be posted on UNISON’s Facebook page during the Green Week.

Green UNISON Week is 15th – 22nd September

Anyone interested in getting involved in the Small Steps Campaign or being part of a Green UNISON Network should email:
